Purchased in 1947, the B-17g Flying Fortress "Lacey Lady" was a surplus bomber built by Lockheed at the Vega plant in Burbank California.  As the lowest air time B-17 in existence, she, the "Lacey Lady" has stood as an icon since 1947 on McLoughlin Blvd in Portland, Oregon honoring all those who have served.

B-17’s had been designed to protect their crews and were known as the "Flying Fortress", but these aircraft were not designed to withstand Oregon's climate for 67 years unprotected. The current condition of the "Lacey Lady" warranted our immediate attention. Forming the B-17 Alliance Group allowed our team of professionals to work  together and develop a plan that will save the "Lacey Lady" and put steps into motion allowing for the full restoration process of this iconic WWII B-17 Flying Fortress to begin.

Recently moving into a new hanger home at Salem, Oregon's historic McNary Field, the B-17 Alliance Group has successfully brought the “Lacey Lady” indoors! Restoration, Preservation, Education and Memorization are all a part of the  B-17 Alliance Group’s vision moving forward to restore the "Lacey Lady" and fly her around the world as a living educational museum.
