“The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress” is possibly the most unique and well-known military documentary ever made. Directed by legendary Hollywood film director William Wyler, this 1944 film follows the famous B-17G Flying Fortress known as the “Memphis Belle” on her 25th mission during World War II.
All of Wyler’s raw 8th Air Force footage from the various missions was recently discovered preserved in the National Archives, which then partnered with Vulcan Productions and Creative Differences to make the restored 4K documentary from the material. The restoration of Wyler’s footage is impeccable. It's not often that WWII films of this time are in color — most movies and newsreels of the period were in black and white.
NOTE:DVD sales profits directly go to Catherine Wyler, daughter of director William Wyler.
